Grades K to 8
Number Line
Whole numbers, fractions, decimals and negatives on one line. Tap to mark a point, switch to Jump to show adding and subtracting, and print it as a worksheet.
Tap the line to mark a point; tap a point again to remove it. In Jump mode, tap where the jump starts, then where it lands.
Ways to use it in class
- Counting on and back. Mark a start, then jump forward or back in ones, twos or tens and say each landing out loud.
- Adding and subtracting. For 38 + 25, jump from 38 by 20 and then by 5. Each jump shows its size above the arc.
- Comparing fractions. Switch to Fractions, choose quarters or eighths, and mark both fractions: the one further right is bigger.
- Negative numbers. Run the line from −10 to 10 and jump across zero to see why 3 − 5 = −2.
- Rounding. Count in tens, mark a number, and ask which ten it is closer to.
Printing a number line worksheet
Set the range and step, untick Show numbers to leave the marks blank for students to label, and press Print. The page prints the number line only, without the buttons or this text.
Questions teachers ask
- What is a number line?
- A straight line with numbers placed at equal distances, so that each number's position shows its size. Numbers grow to the right and shrink to the left, which makes a number line a picture of counting, adding, subtracting and comparing.
- How do you show fractions on a number line?
- Split each whole into equal parts: halves into 2, quarters into 4, eighths into 8. Choose Fractions above and the denominator, and the line marks every part, with mixed numbers such as 1 1/4 past the first whole.
- What is an open number line?
- A number line with no marks or numbers on it. Students place only the numbers they need and draw jumps between them, which is how many classes teach mental addition and subtraction. Tick Open number line above to get one.
- How do I show negative numbers?
- Start the line below zero, for example from −10 to 10. Zero sits in the middle, and a jump to the left shows subtracting or adding a negative number.
- Can I print a number line?
- Yes. Set the range and step, untick Show numbers if you want students to fill them in, and press Print. Only the number line is printed.

Color squares, hide numbers to fill in, and light up skip counting by any number.
Place Value ChartGrades 1 to 6Type a number and see each digit's value, expanded form, word form and base ten blocks.
Ten FrameGrades K to 2One or two frames with two-color counters, for counting, making ten and quick looks.
Multiplication ChartGrades 2 to 5Up to 12 x 12 or 20 x 20. Tap a product to light up its row and column, hide answers to practice, and print.
Fraction StripsGrades 2 to 6A fraction wall from wholes to twelfths. Shade pieces to compare fractions and find equivalent ones.
Number BondsGrades K to 2A whole and its two parts. Build bonds, practice the missing part, and print a worksheet.
Base Ten BlocksGrades K to 5Build any number to 9,999 with ones, rods, flats and cubes. Ten trade up for one, and a block breaks back into ten, to show regrouping.
Graph PaperGrades 1 to 8Printable square grid, dot grid, coordinate axes and isometric dots, in the square size you choose.
Coordinate PlaneGrades 5 to 8One or four quadrants. Tap to plot points, join them into shapes, and print blank grids.
